SNEAKERS Program

About SNEAKERS

SNEAKERS groups for teen women are the foundation of the work of Crittenton Services of Greater Washington (Crittenton). We share the belief that a consistent and positive presence in a teen’s life yields the best results. For over 20 years, Crittenton has offered weekly group meetings throughout the Metropolitan Washington area to teen women in the eighth through twelfth grades.

Program Details

The SNEAKERS (Self Esteem, Nurturing, Expectations, Assertiveness, Knowledge, Empowerment, Responsibility, Success) program provides a long term investment in teen women. Groups of 15 girls meet over 26 weeks with a qualified and experienced Crittenton program leader at their schools. Discussion topics include academic, career, and life opportunities; emotional support, decision making, healthy behavior, skill building, sexuality education and goal-setting for success in school, work, and life.

Providing Opportunities

In addition to the in-school program, girls from SNEAKERS are invited to educational events, college tours, speaker series, and other opportunities throughout their middle and high school years. Out-of-school activities reinforce the SNEAKERS focus on setting goals, building skills, and providing positive real life experiences for teen women during their formative years.
