Foreseeing the Future (4-Cing) is a positive youth development, college access, and career exploration program for 8th grade girls. The goal is to motivate and prepare underrepresented teen girls with the knowledge and tools to successfully attain their educational and career goals. Participants of our program are predominantly Latina and African American middle school girls who come from low income backgrounds, have parents with limited English skills and who are often the first in their families to consider pursuing a college education. Research indicates that a college education builds on the knowledge and skills acquired in earlier years. It is within this context that 4-Cing provides age appropriate, bilingual/bicultural information to meet its goal.
Program curriculum includes:
Each Participant Receives: Today, Tomorrow, Forever: My Life Planner -- a 77- page journal, scrapbook, and goal setting guide designed for teen girls. Student Portfolio: An organized collection of college access and career exploration materials that showcase the participants’ growth, knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations. Portfolios’ components includes:
Two-Day, One-Night College Tour
